Mrs. Katherine Swem joined the OSLS staff in 2019, and and currently serves as 3rd and 4th grade teacher.

Mrs. Swem is the daughter of two Lutheran teachers and desired to be a teacher from a young age. She graduated from Concordia University River Forest with a Bachelor of Arts in Education (English Specialization) and a Lutheran Teacher's Certificate. In her eight years of teaching, Katherine has taught nearly every grade from Kindergarten to Eighth Grade. She especially loves sharing excellent literature with her classes, encouraging student creativity through the arts, and helping students connect the knowledge they are gaining in each subject into a cohesive understanding of the world.

Mrs. Swem is married to Pastor Jeremy Swem. They have been blessed with four boys ages 6-16. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and camping with her boys, gardening, and singing.
